John Igo Branch Library
15,500 SF | San Antonio, TX | 2007
Nestled in a 24-acre park off of Hausman Road the library features a 40’ tall non-traditional hybrid windmill providing supplemental power for water to flow through the building into a water basin. Energy efficient features include high-performance 1” insulated glass, large overhangs, and decorative metal solar awnings. One landscape feature is a pathway that leads visitors to a heritage live oak. Upon entering the live oak canopy, one discovers a natural exterior reading enclosure.
